I make one deviation from the instructions on how to make the laundry bags. When I fold the laundry bag top in half I sew it together in a narrow edge. This makes it easier when you put it all together, You can then treat it as a single piece of fabric and no worries about it slipping.
Laundry bag linings all ready and waiting for the next step. It has been quite a while since I have done a mass amount of sewing like this. I find that doing the steps like this quite fun.
The quilt request for a friend is finished. Normally I do not make things other than for charity and community, but I made an exception here, a donation to the GoFundMe for Jan-Maree was acceptable in this case.
Look what arrived in the post today, A Care package of my own! You can imagine my surprise and confusion when I saw it. I thought at first that it was the quilt coming back to me until a closer look and read the description. Excitement and wonder took the place of in trepidation, this is what it must feel like to open a package!
This is the contents of the box. The zip pull he has made himself, as well a a lovely letter and photo him holding his quilt.
The binding needs to be hand stitched on the back then it will be finished.
This next quilt is for a friends daughter who has donated to the Gofundme for Aussie Heroes. Her request is for penguins, teal and coral. This is the next one started. I thought I might like to show you how I do the applique using a colouring book page.
As you know, Aussie Hero Quilts founder, Jan-Maree Ball had a house fire recently and lost her home with everything. She is fine, along with her family and animals, She has a task ahead of her with rebuilding her life. This is a link to her blog for an up date on how you can help if you like. http://aussieheroquilts.blogspot.com.au/

I received these lovely cottons on Saturday from a lovely lady at my cloth doll club. Thank you so much.
This is the next Aussie Hero quilt in progress.
The request is for Nth Q.L.D Cowboys and Brisbane Broncos. The pictures will be turned into applique and put onto white fabric and the blocks will be joined with the same fabric as the centre square as it has both gold and yellow in it. This is the colour that will unify the teams. The blocks have been quilted curvy for the wife's team and straight masculine lines for his team. and the centre block will have both curves and straight lines in it.
A Very Cute Beany Kid, a colouring book, colouring pencils some Tim Tams and Frigs Alive lollies. This part of my parcel I will be sharing out and they will be going as gifts to the Aussie Hero quilt recipients.
