Also from my husband a huge roll of batting.
A lovely basket of fruit and veggies from my best friend and a bottle of Jim Beam from my husband.
The only Aussie Hero stuff I have done today is the start of the map request for my Aussie Hero request. drawn, stitched and painted, It is wet and hanging up to dry. This will be heat set and then sandwiched and the stitch lines on the countries re stitched to give definition and then labelled. A big hug to all of you on facebook for the lovely birthday wishes, I love you all.
This is the start of my next Aussie Hero request quilt.
The top fabric bar codes, is quilted to be used as filler blocks for the main quilt pieces. It will be cut to size after the main pieces are made. The request is for Middle East, UAE Flag, Aussie Flag, camels, map and communications.
This is what I am doing in between Aussie Hero stuff. Putting together a very scrappy cat quilts using polar fleece on one side and all the left over strings on the other. When I have enough I will assemble them and donate them to our local animal rescue centre.
This is the other part of the raffle prize for our Christmas In July meeting. I have tested it and it is a perfect size to hold a 1 kilo bag of stuffing. My question is, should I put a bag of stuffing in it as well? or will it be too much? along with the sewing machine mat, sewing machine non slip foot pedal mat and the sewing machine cover and matching needle book.
This is the next Aussie Hero quilt request. Masculine, the Punisher and their logo, Whilst I am waiting for the logo to arrive I am preparing the fabrics I will be using. My nephews jeans, He recently gave me first dibs at his wardrobe of stuff he was going to take to Savers, I picked out all the jeans. I will be unpicking all the fabric today.
This is the next Aussie Hero quilt in progress, the request is for the flag, transport Corps badge, movement wagon wheel, anything Defence force/ Australia related and poppies.
Very busy this week with costuming and looking after two households.
This is what I have been making for the past couple of days. At the last meeting of the ACDA (Australian Cloth Doll Association) The cloth doll club that I am in had a vote on the charity we are supporting this year for our fund raising month which is our Christmas in July meeting. Every year we choose a little Australian charity and this year it is Aussie Hero Quilts and laundry Bags. I am so happy!
This is the raffle prize that I have made. Sewing machine mat with pockets, a sewing machine cover, a needle holder to match and a non slip foot pedal mat.
Yesterday I had a lovely catch up with my friend and then in the afternoon we went to Savers in Greensborough. My friend bought me this lovely large leather purple bag and I bought the cotton drill fabric and the blank cards for my Aussie Hero stuff.
Highlights have been added to the silhouette and stitched down with clear thread.
This is how I am quilting the blocks. The key fabric is the back and the fronts will be different blocks of blue.
When the blocks are put together they will be turned 1/4 to join like this. It gives a simple movement to the quilt.
This is the next Aussie Hero request quilt and laundry bag I am making. The request is for fly fishing and blue. I hope you can see the outline I am using. This will be part applique and part fabric pens
I had a wonderful couple of days catching up, and a little retail therapy too!
Purple boots! It just goes to show, the perfect thing turns up when you least expect it! We had an hour to kill whilst waiting for my daughter to pick us up from the train station in Lithgow NSW. I found these, the store is called Rockstar, 121 Main Street Lithgow 2790 (02) 6351 4001 www.facebook.com/rockstarshoplithgow
These boots had only just come into the store the day before. Leather made in Portugal. It felt lovely to wear something new to go with my outfit for such an important occasion. They have a fleecy linng so they are so comfortable and warm.
I also I bought these tea towels from Dimmeys for Aussie Heroes laundry bags and quilts. Aussie Heroes is never far from my mind.
