Doll Making.

I have been asked to make a doll for a school in NSW. A Captain Cook doll to be exact. Readers of my blog will recognise the pink wool fabric on the right. I have dyed a piece for his costume in navy blue and shocked it in hot and then cold water several times to change the feel of it. It is much stiffer now and will hold its shape nicely to represent a heavy wool look. The gold ric rac braid from my stash can be very carefuly straighten out. As payment I will be asking for a Spotlight card for the cost of the postage for the doll. My time and materials for schools I give freely.

Something Different.

My son and nephew are going to Comicon, They adore all things like dressing up and Superheroes etc. One of the things I am going to make is this. A holster for a gun. It will like this.
I went and bought a bag from the op shop for $3. I will be using the straps and fasteners as well as the bag to make the holder out of and bias bind it.

But that is not all! I have been asked buy my lovely nephew to re cover a couch with Spiderman fabric! All this in 3 weeks. That is all the time I have given myself to be away from Aussie Hero stuff.

Aussie Hero Stuff.

Today I have sewn 3 laundry bags. This one goes with the quilt I have just made.
The next 2 are single laundry bags. Request was for red and white and black. The HMAS Newcastle embroidery was sent to me this morning.
This request was for red and white. To make them worthwhile putting them into a BX2 box I add goodies, What works for me is the jumbo bag of 10 packs of chips or other kinds of munchies.
I have almost run out of cards so this is what I will be doing this afternoon. The front of the cards will have either a crossword or a word search with the answers on the back of the card. The envelopes are used for them to write on as I add blank sheets of writing paper to them. The yellow folder in the middle has all my info ready to cut and paste into the card, a little blurb about myself and thanks for what they do, my e-mail and snail mail address and Aussie Hero info. I will also be making my own postcards using photo paper.

Aussie Hero Quilt Donations.

I had a really lovely surprise when I went to my cloth doll club yesterday. (ACDA link is on the right hand side of my blog).  Jill who does the most delightful knitting for charity bought in for me some lovely quilt things to be used for Aussie Heroes. These are from a family member.
 A brick quilt top pack,
 A whole quilt top.
An almost finished quilt, This will have to be altered to make it fit the requirements, looking forward to the challenge.
This lovely piece of quilting to be incorporated into a quilt.
This lovely lady is now a friend on facebook too.

Also yesterday when I was in the op shop I was looking for postcards and chatting to the lovely ladies there about Aussie Heroes and now I can gauge pretty well those who really want to know more, We were chatting for easily more than half an hour and they took down the details and will be chasing it up. Every where I go I have my photo album and now the magazines with Aussie Heroes will be going with me everywhere too. A really good day.

Laundry Bags.

When I opened up the fabric I found that they were pillow cases, I carefully de constructed them and with added fabric turned them into laundry bags.
Too late to post them back to her today so I will be doing that first thing in the morning tomorrow.

Laundry Bags.

This fabric arrived in the post today, fabric for 2 laundry bags to be forwarded to a lady who has made the quilts to go with them. I will get them done right away and post them back to her.

Aussie Hero Quilt Project.

This is my next Aussie Hero quilt request. Belmain West Tigers, pink, dogs, animals and pets. This is one side of the quilt so that it can be reversible.
So I have chosen to use the colours of his team, mostly chocolate brown, orange and a hint of white.
