Aussie Hero Quilt Continued.

Continuing the quilt I started a couple of quilts ago, All the outlines on the Disney characters have been sewn on the outlines in the colours to compliment the shapes and now I am filling in all the open spaces with her other request of shoes. I made 2 cardboard templates of a shoe in profile that can be flipped to make a pair in two sizes. The shoes will be outlined in purple and pink her two colour requests.

Aussie Hero Quilt In Progress.

Sometimes things don't always go to plan, A promised quilt from someone was not done and I always said that I could whip one up quickly if needed so a phone call from headquarters and I am doing a quilt request for Parramatta Eels quilt needed quickly.
A quick search on the internet and I saw the colours and the emblem. I decided to draw it and use the fabric markers to colour it in and the rest just strips of fabric. This quilt will be finished by the end of the day and posted out tomorrow then I can get back to my original choices.

Close Ups.

To make things easier for myself I am using Frixion Pilot heat erasable pens to highlight areas I want to sew.
Close up of arm ready to sew.
In this picture you can see one arm is sewn and the other is outlined where I will be sewing. The erasable pen on the other arm has been ironed and all that is left is the stitching. Click on the pictures to see the full details. I am having fun with this.

Aussie Hero Quilt In Progress.

This Aussie Hero quilt request is for pink and purple, Disney Princesses.
This was a new quilt cover that I bought from Savers in Greensborough for the Fairies pillowcase that I used earlier on. I will be quilting it as a complete panel and cutting it to size after.
First I will be sewing the outlines of the fairies and the dresses in the same colours as the picture, then adding shadow details with free motion stitching. So it will be more complicated, all the details will be in the stitching. I have started on the pink petal skirt first.
This is the fabric on the back. I will be giving it a purple binding.

Aussie Heo Quilt Continued.

This is the Aussie Hero quilt so far. Totally scrappy and blue and white. The trick here is to make it longer and wider than needed then trim to the correct size afterwards. A really lovely thing happened yesterday when I was in Spotlight South Morang, a lady came up to me to ask about quilting stuff and we got chatting. 4 years ago when we had the big bush fires here in Melbourne I answered a call out for crafting supplies for those who had lost everything and I donated a car full of boxes of stuff including sewing machines, scissors, knitting kits etc. Well this lady was a recipient of some of my things. How amazing is that! I told her all about Aussie Heroes, about how it started and what we can do to help. She is going to look it up and share it with their sewing group. Lovely Stuff!
I also went to a garage sale to look for doona covers for the laundry bags and when I told her what I was going to do with them she donated a set. A lovely thing indeed. I take my album of what I have made this year with me everywhere along with the card so that they can take down the details for themselves. You never know who you are going to bump into.
