Quilt In Progress.

This is the first bit of crafting since Sunday, I have come down with the flue and it has knocked me out all week, You can imagine that for me this is a biggie! Just taking it slow for the moment cos everything aches! This is the pattern I am doing for the quilt They are large blocks, each block is 14 inches. 3 blocks wide and 5 rows down make up this quilt top. I am allowing the fabric to do work, it is so pretty! Scottie dogs will be appliqued in place afterwards.

Capes Continued.

Lots of sewing done today, 12 girls capes ready, just need to add the velcro to the neck pieces.
Starting on the boys capes now. I made the girls in exactly the same way. The lining is cut to the correct size, and to make it easier, the outer was roughly cut slightly larger, It just saves me time. Pin well all around.
Sew all the way around leaving an opening in the bottom to turn it through.
 Cut it out neatly.
 Clip the curves.
Turn it the right way out and pin the opening closed
Top stitch all the way around.
Add the logo, these are made of wool felt. and the velcro to the neck edge and you are done. I have 11 more boys capes cut out and paired up ready to sew.

Everything In Bulk.

How lovely is this! A double sided double bed doona cover, hand made from Savers for $4. I measured it and it can be carefully un picked from the sides to make 2 quilt tops with some appliques to make them personal. A great find!
It is all about the preparations. 6 sets of 4 laundry bags all washed, cut and ready to sew.
I bought 60 of these on ebay for $20. Christmas gifts sorted!
Finally, quilt backings washed and sorted.
I have been getting some knitting done in the evenings in the past few days. Scarves for Guardian Pharmacy.

10mm knitting needles, 3 balls of 8 ply yarn, at least one of them variegated.
13 stitches, 2 row pattern.
Cast on 13 stitches.
1st row: K4, p1, (k3, p1) to last 4 stitches, k4.
2nd row: K2, p1, (k3, p1) to last 2 stitches, k2.
this makes a nice rib stretchy rib pattern. The variegated yarn helps tie in the colours and if you use a sock yarn you get a pattern running through it too.
The light blue one has a 4 ply sock yarn in it. Do a test few rows and vary the yarns used, a good way to use up your oddments.

Savers Op Shopping.

This is what I bought from Savers a couple of days ago,
This stuff as well, sheets, curtains and doona covers. All will be turned into laundry bags. They have to be washed first as always, starting on the rolled stuff today. Total cost with a 30% discount came to $30 exactly. Very happy indeed!
This is what arrived on Friday, I bought 100 BX2 boxes on ebay for $50 as I was down to my last 6 boxes. Sometimes you have to spend money to save money. If I was to buy the boxes from the post office individually they would cost me $240. Now I am set up for probably a year.

Aussie Hero Quilt In Progress.

I am using the hour glass from this tutorial.
The plain blocks of soft blue are my grounding fabrics. This is the fabric I bought ages ago when I was Op shopping with Melody some time ago.
The rest of the fabrics are left over pieces from previous projects.
I have added a border of red that has all the colours in the blocks to tie it in.
It will when it is finished have appliques of aircraft on it.
