Laundry Bags.

 Meggie.
 Tilli.
Today I am making laundry bags. This is another tip. Instead of making applique letters for the laundry bags I use these stencils. Very easy and cheap, and available everywhere,

Making Labels.

I thought I might like to share with you how I make the labels for Aussie Hero Quilts.
I bought this book of transparency film from Savers and I had an idea, I made a template using the font, CutOutsFLF a free font, cut it out using a silhouette SD and a fabric marker and cotton fabric. I just have to run the marker over the letters, easy, quick and so much nicer than my own handwriting! Set the fabric marker using a hot iron for 4 minutes and you are done. I will be making a few of them and putting them into a tin ready to go for quilts in the future. I have 6 quilts ready to post on Monday and will be changing those labels tomorrow.

Aussie Hero Quilt In Progress.

This is the quilt I have started today. The theme is, Sports and travel.
This is the back. I will be adding silhouettes of sporting figures.
I bought something for myself on ebay, a recliner chair for $5. After sitting on a broken chair for 6 weeks I am excited to be able to sit comfortably.  It works fine, just a little worn, I will be dismantling it and recovering it in pure wool blanket fabric from my stash from Savers. All the parts will be a different colour and will be covered in applique. Plenty of pictures will be taken on how I am going to do it, Fingers crossed I can then put it back together and it works!

Aussie Hero Quilt Finished.

This quilt I started on Friday, and finished this morning. The request was simple, Manly Sea Eagles NRL Team. So I googled it and came up with this. I sewed strips of burgandy and white and made my own applique using the fabric markers and sewed it on. Just to give it another little bit of colour I added blue and white and red and blue binding.
This is the back, Need to add the label then it is done.  The quilting is a simple brick effect. I drew lines on the quilt using a Frixion erasable pen, then after it was sewn, when I ironed it the pen disappeared.
A close up of the applique.I used red and black fabric markers and for the shading I used a laundry marker pen.

A wonderful and thoroughly engaging speaker whose passion shone through, I do believe she has now got more people to follow and make for her after this. It was just wonderful to meet her in person.

Savers Shopping.

Look what I bought today in Savers Mill Park! Total cost was $16. Cord for the bags, binding for the quilts, I am thinking for the handkerchiefs, quilt block backs.
I could not believe it when I by chance turned around and saw this book! $3 I had this book many years ago and put it into savers 4 years ago and have been looking for a copy for maybe a year now. So happy! Total spent in Savers was $19 a really good day.

This is the next quilt I am working on. A request for tea, cats, floral, red and cream. I have prepared 8 blocks that I will quilt in between the patterns and each centre has a different applique on them. They will then be assembled as a quilt as you go method. on the left is the backing and will also be the binding, a cheaters panel. The cats and teapot fabrics were from Spotlight, the red and cheaters panel were donated fabrics.
